Ronald Brockmann, Managing Director, Europe for ActiveVideo Networks To Speak on Cloud-Based Interactivity on Connections Europe Panel

November 02, 2009 --

HILVERSUM, The Netherlands, Nov. 2 /PRNewswire/ -- The near- and long-term impact of cloud-based interactivity and other services will be discussed when Ronald Brockmann, managing director, Europe for ActiveVideo Networks(TM) joins other noteworthy industry executives on the leadoff panel at a Connections Europe Summit Series conference in Amsterdam this week.

Brockmann, who joined ActiveVideo Networks with the acquisition of Avinity Systems, B.V. earlier this year, will speak about how CloudTV solutions can increase the scope and quality of interactivity available on digital and IPTV set-top boxes, Web-connected broadband devices and CI+ enabled televisions. Brockmann will join Richard Bullwinkle, chief evangelist of Rovi Corporation; Geof Todd, director of sales and new business initiatives for NDS; and moderator Stuart Sykes on the panel, entitled "Defining the New Video Experience."

Connections Europe will be held Wednesday, November 4 at the Moevenpick Hotel in Amsterdam.

"Consumers today care far less about the source of their media experience, and more about the quality of the experience itself," said Brockmann. "Streaming interactive video from the network cloud enables the consumer to immerse themselves in the richest possible entertainment environment, regardless of the capabilities of the set-top box, TV or end-user device."

Cloud-based platforms such as ActiveVideo?? immerse viewers in engaging experiences that combine Web video, Web 2.0 functionality and traditional television, using an ultra-thin client in the set-top box to pass user keystrokes from standard remote controls to servers in the network. Using cloud-based services, viewers can navigate a completely interactive environment of both linear and broadband programming including rich interfaces and graphics optimized for TV and remote control navigation; social networking; personal media; niche content; and targeted, actionable advertising. ActiveVideo's CloudTV approach uses intelligent MPEG streaming to deliver the Web 2.0 experience to a worldwide television audience through both legacy and next generation digital set-top boxes and broadband-connected devices.
